“I’m a Taiwanese ” Young Generation Guarding Taiwan Democracy

As the protests in Taiwan carry on, there is an increase in social media attention. Since the beginning of the protests hashtags such as #occupytaiwan and #savetaiwan have been gaining traction among twitter. These hashtags often lead to this video of a young girl speaking out on what the protesters are trying to accomplish and “revive Taiwan’s dying democracy.”

The “I’m a Taiwanese” video which was published on YouTube March 20th 2014 has gained over 100,000 views in the past eight days. The main objective of the video was to spread awareness of the status of the protest and to ask for support which with nearly 2,000 shares within eight days it is well on its way of doing so. Being posted constantly on social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook is giving it the attention that the protest wants and needs.
